Evolution and progress
Human beings are the highest evolved being on this earth. They possess an intellect that no other creature possesses. The whole world and indeed the whole universe is on an evolutionary path towards perfection. This movement towards perfection has been termed progress by P.R. Sarkar.
According to P.R. Sarkar, actual progress is only possible in the spiritual sphere. Living beings move in three stages: instinct, intellect and intuition. These three stages develop as a result of the pressures and forces that surround them. A stone becomes sand, which in turn mingles with the earth, and from there crude living beings such as simple plants evolve. Later, more complex insects and animals develop and ultimately human beings emerge.
All creatures possess instinct. But only more evolved animals and human beings possess intellect. And only healthy human beings are able to develop intuition.
Instinct develops as a result of physical pressure. Intellect develops as a result of psychic clash. And intuition evolves as a result of the attraction for something unlimited or as a result of love for God. This attraction or longing for something unlimited is what spirituality is concerned with.
And it is in this movement towards limitlessness that human beings attain perfection. And to facilitate this movement towards perfection by creating an environment where the physical, psychic and spiritual needs of all are met is what PROUT aims at.
